Help Us

Can I do anything to help?

We are often asked by island visitors, residents and Bonaire Animal Shelter supporters “Can I do anything to help”
Sure you can help….and in any number of ways:

  • By volunteering your time
  • By making a monetary donation to help keep our Shelter programs operating
  • Shop in our second hand shop “Pakus di Pruga
  • By donating items

Volunteering your time

We are looking for volunteers to help with the cleaning and feeding duties at the shelter. There are many different types of animals that all require different feeding and cleaning duties.

We are also looking for handypersons, gardeners and people to help us at the fleamarket and cruiseship market. Dog and cat care is the priority at the Bonaire Animal Shelter, so minor repair work and gardening may go neglected. Your hard work will be much appreciated by the staff and volunteers.

We are ideally looking for people to help on a weekly basis, but if you only have time to help fortnightly or once a month, then still please contact us. We are very short of volunteers so any time you could offer the rescue animals would be wonderful.

Monetary donation

The Bonaire Animal Shelter is partially supported by the government of Bonaire. However, most of the operating budget depends on the contributions from businesses and people such as yourself who appreciate the unswaying affection and devotion that these animals provide us.

Of course, cash donations are always appreciated. Look for the dog house donation boxes in many shops and businesses or on the shelter on Bonaire.

Monetary donations can be made via Bank transfer.

Shop in the Pakus in Pruga

Help fund our cause by shopping in our second hand shop, the Pakus di Pruga.

As prices go up all over Bonaire, the Shelter’s Pakus di Pruga (Flea Market) that is open every Saturday has become more and more popular. There is obviously a need on the island that is being filled by this little shop run by volunteers to benefit the Animal Shelter. In fact the place is just bursting with items – furniture, clothing, household items, garden items, children’s furniture, clothes and toys and more – lots of cheap stuff! And if you have things to get rid of, let them know 717-4989. They can even arrange pick up if it’s something like furniture.
