Carter

This handsome young man is one of the biggest cats to reside at the shelter. Bonairean cats tend to be on the small side compared to American and European cats, so Carter is an exception to the rule. He weights about 15 pounds and is not fat….just a big, strong boy. Despite his size, he is a gentle, quiet cat who one might describe as “lazy”….he prefers napping and lounging as opposed to more “strenuous” activity.

Carter’s large frame and unique facial markings and gray/black striped patches on his white coat make him a standout in the “looks” department. He is about a year and half old, and arrived at the shelter in February with his much smaller sister, Cassie. Cassie recently found her fur-ever home and Carter is hoping that his chance of finding a loving guardian is just around the corner.

Carter would be a perfect “single cat” as he prefers to spend his time with people or on his own…napping in sunspots or chilling out in a cardboard box. He is, however, very protective of the other cats when it comes to dogs. When a shelter “house” dog or other canine resident comes to check out the cat compound Carter is the first to “charge” and let the dog know it better behave (that is if Carter isn’t sleeping through the visit!). Seems Carter is not very fond of dogs, which is probably indicative of a bad experience when he was on the street.

Carter is healthy, sterilized, vaccinated and ready to add a large amount of feline love and companionship to your home. You can visit Carter and all the other shelter residents at the Animal Shelter Bonaire, Kaminda Lagun 26, Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 3-5 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. non stop. 717-4989.
